Modern Rustic Home Inspiration
Happy Sunday sweet friends!
While we’re caught somewhere in a hiccup of winter weather down here in the South, I can’t say I’m entirely surprised that my mind has been drifting to bright and cozy spaces.
There is something to be said about clean lines paired with comfortable (livable) furniture, a heap of rustic charm, industrial hints, and layered neutral textiles.
With that in mind, I’ve put together a mood board to showcase the natural warmth and effortless comfort of modern rustic style as well as a few ideas to help bring this look into your own home.

Tips & Tricks for Modern Rustic Decorating:
Modern Comfort & Style.
The key to this style is in allowing your finishes and architectural details to provide the character and rugged charm for your space. To avoid over-designing and taking the style too literal, look to use modern or mid-century pieces with natural textures (linens, leather, hides) and clean lines. Don’t be afraid to channel your inner minimalist and focus on a few key elements to give visual interest to the space versus looking to “fill” the room.
Keep it Light and Bright.
One thing to always keep in mind is your windows. Natural light helps to open a space, adding warmth and a view as sight lines are expanded. When choosing your window treatments, stick to light-filtering versus blackout curtains in pale neutral tones with minimal or no design. Look to hang longer curtains higher in smaller rooms to give the illusion of a taller, more open space.
The Fifth Wall.
That’s right, we’re talking about your ceiling here. Don’t overlook this incredible opportunity to add further depth and character to your space. Instead, utilize every square foot of your room. Try adding a few faux wood beams along the ceiling, planks, or even bead board. You can paint or leave them in their natural wood tones. Either way, it helps to set the tone for your space while drawing the eye upward for added drama. What’s not to love?
