The New Nursery!

Happy Sunday to you all! Hard to believe we’re already through the first month of 2020.

December came and we hit the ground running (or waddling in my case.) Our construction project was finished that first week, but between getting everything cleaned and back into place, the holidays, visiting family, the last two months have been more than a little crazy.

We’re still in a bit of an “organize and prep mode” especially since baby will be here before we know it! Finding times to take pictures, then sit down and write when I’m not utterly exhausted comes few and farther in between so I’ll be showing off our remodel room by room as they’re cleaned and organized.

But enough of my fussing, onto the now former, kitchen! With a baby on the way, the need for a nursery became priority number one. Could we have used the 3rd-floor attic and loft space? Technically yes. But who wants to trek up and down the stairs in the middle of the night for feedings and diaper changes?

I offer up a quick reminder of what things looked like before: the 1970’s-esque kitchen/utility room. Yikes! With no official use for the room, it became our catch-all junk room of random things we had no place for.

The first thing we had done was to demo and move the bathroom/kitchen wall in about 18″. While it shrunk the nursery space a bit, the need for a larger bathroom was a higher priority. Then new walls and carpet instead of linoleum on the floor.

Nursery looking into the bathroom. The wall between is down and we’re waiting on the new one to be built.

Finally, we have a beautiful, functional nursery in place of the ugly, empty kitchen. Apparently, it’s common for nurseries to be “themed” along the lines of an animal or children’s book character. That’s just not our style. Instead, the hubby and I opted to keep the decor simple and feminine without using a lot of pink.

With 99% of the room finished, all that’s left are wall art, and possibly a rocker, but those are things for another day.
